Hans de Ruiter Born in August 1956

Graduate law (LL.M.) University of Amsterdam in 2004, member of the Netherlands Bar Association.

After working as an Attorney at Law in a larger law firm specialising in bankruptcy and commercial law, I decided to work in a smaller team with specialised legal expertise. This way I can offer competent legal advice to English-speaking clients who are in need of a dedicated dutch lawyer. I am not a number in a large international firm, but a qualified lawyer who treats your interests with great personal care. Recently, April 2011, I formed a team with Chris Wiekeraad, a lawyer since 1999. Our dutch website is www.wr-advocaten.nl.
Experience in areas like bankruptcy (as a trustee), contracts, employment, litigation, corporate and business law. Since I have a wide experience as a business controller, my advice need not be limited to legal challenges, but can be viewed in a wider perspective.

Other activities are lecturing private and commercial law to accountancy students, as well as giving masterclass bankruptcy to CPA’s, as part of their continuing education. For foreign students I added an outline of dutch bankruptcy law to this site.

Earlier professional experience as a financial and business controller in The Netherlands and in New Jersey, United States.

In New Jersey I worked for Blasko Auto Leasing (1985) and as business manager finance for Medical Publishing Enterprises in Fair Lawn (1989). Working as controller for Stacker Machine Company (1990). SMC was purchased by Butler Automatic (Massachussets) after it filed for bankruptcy in March 1992. I Continued to work for Butler Automatic (as their controller in New Jersey) until August 1993.

After 1993 I was employed in The Netherlands as a business controller, with responsibility for all accounting, as well as systems administration, administrative organisation and internal controls.
